Good pace! I'm afraid I will have to wait until the morning to play as I'm pretty tired now and that's when stupid mistakes happen!

Federal scouts discover Rebel troops massing on the banks of the Mississippi near Cairo. Reinforcements are sent to the area to discourage any acts of recklessness. Ships of the Federal Navy are now actively searching for any vessels carrying contraband or weapons to Rebel ports.
Nothing special

Outraged at the Rebel attrocities in Tennessee, West Virginia and off the coast of North Carolina public opinion in the North changes from one of reconcilliation to one of revenge. Urged on by the press the Federal Army of the Potomac advances on Alexandria. Fifteen Infantry units (mostly Militias) and one Rebel General are either destroyed, captured or scattered into the woods. The Federal Army loses one Cannon Battery and four Infantry Units. Spurred on by this success the press clamour for the Army of the Potomac to march on to Richmond. Preferring a more cautious approach Lincoln advises his Generals to halt in good defensive terrain north-east of Charlottesville and await the inevitable Rebel counter-attack. One Rebel Militia Unit holding the river crossing is wiped out.
At Harper's Ferry Federal troops of the Army of Cumberland destroy three Rebel Militia Units before securing the high ground to the east of the town. The Union suffers no major losses in its initial attack.
